National Council of Science Museums (HMCS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, has developed a chain of science museums and science centers across the country, including science cities through the Science Culture Promotion Program (SPoCS) to depict the growth of science and technology and their application in industry and human well-being, with a view to developing the scientific attitude and temperament in the country as well as to carry out research in science and technology in the fields falling within the scope of the Council’s activities.
HMCS has undertaken plans to establish new science centers as part of the government’s SPoCS program. of India according to the list attached in Annex-‘I ‘.
Currently, 25 science museums / centers across the country operate under the administrative control of the National Council of Science Museums (HMCS).
HMCS, in conjunction with state governments and UTs, established 22 science centers and turned them over to the respective state government for further operation and maintenance.
